EPC/LIC/ROTTERDAM-STOCKHOLM-CONVENTION                                22nd July, 2016.

Dear Members,

We have received communication from Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director (Chemicals), Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, GOI  informing us about forthcoming meetings of Chemical Reviews Committee (CRC) under Rotterdam Convention and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPRC)  under Stockholm Convention  to be held during  19-23 September 2016 in Rome.

Kindly note that the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MOEF&CC) which  is the nodal ministry for matters related to  Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions, has requested  information on following aspects to enable present our case in proper perspective during the forthcoming meetings:

• Quantity of production, import or export data of Atrazine, Benzidine and Hexachlorobenzene and the alternatives to these chemicals.

• Industrial sector or other applications in which the chemicals at (a) above are used;

• Quantity of production, import or export data of Dicofol

• Quantity of production, import or export data of Pentadecaflurooctanoic acid (CAS No. 335-67-1), PFOA, Perflurooctanoic acid), its salt and PFOA-related compounds and the alternatives to these chemicals

• Industrial sector or other applications in which the above chemicals at (c) and (d) are used;

• Quantity of production, import or export of Decabromodiphenyl ether (commercial mixture, e-decaBDE and its alternative)

• Industrial sector or other applications in which the chemical at (f) above is used; and

• Quantity of production, import or export data of brominated diphenyl ether and its alternatives.

Members are kindly requested to revert with inputs, if any, by  27 th July 2016  on deepak.gupta@chemexcil.gov.in    & balani.lic@chemexcil.gov.in .

Your early inputs will be appreciated and shall enable as forward to DCPC for  onward submission to MoEF&CC.
