Dear Members,   We draw your attention to  important Trade Notices  issued by  JNCH (Nhava Sheva),  New Customs House (Mumbai)  &  Chennai Customs, respectively,   expressing    concerns regarding electronic seals (RFID)  used on export containers.   We understand from the Trade  Notices issued that during verification of security aspects of e-seals provided by approved RFID e-seal vendors, it has been noticed that it is possible to read the e-seal data (Export data tagged with e-seal) without locking the e-seal.  As per few Trade notices, this issue is faced particularly with e-seal of  certain European Manufacturers.   In order to ensure that there is no misuse of the said RFID e-seals, the above said custom locations have issued their Trade Notices with instructions to be followed.     New Customs House, Mumbai &  Chennai Customs  have also indicated the names of  certain  e-seal vendors who are providing e-seals of European manufacturer (namely  M/s Leghorn Group, Italy).     These trade notices are available for reference using below links: http://jawaharcustoms.gov.in/pdf/so-2018/SO_No_039_of_2018.pdf http://www.chennaicustoms.gov.in/chennaicustoms/secure/images/publicnotes/1540556564.pdf http://www.mumbaicustomszone1.gov.in/writereaddata/images/publicnotice/EDI.pdf   If any discrepancy is noticed at the stage of scanning then the competent authority may  take appropriate decision regarding examination of the said export containers on the basis of the perceived risk parameters, as deemed fit.   In view of above,   all concerned  are requested to take note of above trade notices and do the needful accordingly to avoid issues later on.   Yours faithfully, (S.G.
