Expansion of India- Mercosur PTA
|
Dear Members,
This is regarding expansion of India- Mercosur PTA (Preferential Trading Agreement).
You might be aware, that India has signed a PTA with MERCOSUR (a trading block of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay). This PTA which came into operation in 2009 allows 10 to 100% tariff concessions to each other on 450 and 452 tariff lines respectively (list enclosed). The framework of PTA provides for periodic negotiations with a view to expanding the scope of agreement.
In this connection, we have received communication from Director- FT-LAC, Dept of Commerce, Government of India that they have initiated the process of expansion of the PTA keeping in view the changing scenarios of the trade .
Members are therefore requested to revert with the 8 digit tariff lines of their interest in the attached pro-forma. The responses be mailed to us latest by 20 th May 2016 on e-mail id’s- deepak.gupta@chemexcil.gov.in& balani.lic@chemexcil.gov.in .
Your timely replies will enable us send the inputs to the DOC within the given timeline of 25 th May 2016.
