Issues Faced by Importers:- HS Code Classification & FSSAI
|

Dear Members,
This is regarding possible issues faced in HS Code Classification & with FSSAI during import of Chemicals.
Kindly note that the council has received representations from “ISG (Indian Surfactants Group)” citing harassment/ issues faced by the importers mainly in cases of items being imported under concessional tariffs/ FTA’s and also items which have multiple HS codes.
Further, it is also informed that FSSAI mapping of many of the chapter 29 items has created another set of issues for importers wherein they have to essentially go to FSSAI authority for every import with End Use letter stating that the RM is not for Food. This process enhances transactions costs and causes delays.
Concerned member-exporters who have faced such issues are requested to revert with details (HS codes, Product details, any communication by revenue dept etc) at the earliest for our examination.
Depending on your responses, we shall also arrange an interactive meeting of the concerned member-exporters in our Mumbai Office on a mutually suitable date to consolidate the major issues and decide on further action/ meeting with appropriate authority along-with few of the members.
Concerned member-exporters are therefore requested to send their replies to the council latest by 10th January 2018 on email ids- ed@chemexcil.gov.in, deepak.gupta@chemexcil.gov.in and balani.lic@chemexcil.gov.in.
