Meeting regarding measures to reduce imports of Chemicals and Petrochemicals

Dear Members,
We have received communication from the Director (Chemicals), Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) wherein it is informed that Government of India may impose effective measures to check on non-essential imports, which are widening trade deficit and to identify the tariff lines against which nonessential imports in high quantum/value are taking place.
For such items, the industry may reveal their ceiling price in the country and landed price of imported chemicals, capacity available & utilization.
In this context, Joint Secretary (Chemicals) will hold a meeting on 24.09.2018 in New Delhi to discuss on the following issues:
(i)Measures for reducing imports of high value chemicals & petrochemicals itemsto
control trade deficit.
(ii)To make BIS standards of Poly Aluminium Chloride as mandatory.
Members are kindly requested to send their inputs latest by 22/09/2018 with relevant details of items which imports can be reduced.
