Comments on proposed treatment relating to customs duty concessions in

respect of different tariff lines

Dear Members,

As you might be aware, RCEP is  being negotiated   by the Department of Commerce  for which they have taken regular inputs from the  EPC’s.  From our side, whatever inputs were received from members, have been passed  on to the  Department of Commerce.

Now we have received communication from Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) that Department of Commerce (DOC)  has forwarded a list of tariff lines pertaining to them, indicating the proposed treatment relating to customs duty concession in respect of different tariff lines.

The 3 categories of treatment in the enclosed sheet for each of the RCEP country/ grouping indicate the following:

  • Offered:   This line has already been offered by India based on the previous mandate.

  • Proposed: This line is proposed to be offered and mandate is being sought.

  • Exclusion:   There would be no customs duty concession on these lines.

Members  are requested to go through the list and revert with their  comments   by 07/07/2018  on  tariff lines of  interest with some details of   present level of production, installed capacity, imports etc.

You may also indicate the tariff lines for which we may seek concessions from the partner countries for our boosting our exports.

The comments be mailed to us  on e-mail ids-  deepak.gupta@chemexcil.gov.in,  balani.lic@chemexcil.gov.in & rodelhi@chemexcil.gov.in .   Your timely  replies will be appreciated and enable us  put forth your comments to the concerned ministry.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
