Seminar on "Handling Dangerous Goods by Sea (IMDG Code)"
on 27 th May 2016 in Mumbai

Dear Members,
We are pleased to inform you that the Council is planning to organise a one day seminar on "Handling Dangerous Goods by Sea (IMDG Code)" on 27 th May 2016 in Mumbai.
You will appreciate that Dangerous Goods are those goods which by their inherent nature can cause harm to humans, animals, property or environment. The Carriage of dangerous goods and marine pollutants in packaged form by sea is regulated in order to reasonably prevent injury to persons or damage to ships and their cargoes and to prevent harm to the marine environment. The objective of the IMDG Code is to enhance the safe carriage of dangerous goods while facilitating the free unrestricted movement of such goods and prevent pollution to the environment.
The very purpose of this seminar is to create awareness among all concerned in the risks involved and detailed understanding of the Code .
The Guest Speaker for the seminar would be Mr. Shashi Kallada (Specialist- Dangerous Goods) who has in-depth knowledge of the subject and shall covers following aspects:
1. Classification ( Assignment of Proper Shipping Name (Technical Name) Packing Group)
2. Packaging
3. Marking, Labelling of Packages
4. Marking Placarding of Containers and Tanks
5. Segregation of Dangerous Goods
6. Documentation
7. Common non- compliance noticed on Indian export shipments.
8. The participants will be encouraged to ask questions during Q & A to get solutions for their pertinent issues in export shipments.
Further, Senior officers from IIP/ Shipping etc may also be present during the seminar and shall interact with the participants.
