Process Safety Specialist

The speaker – Ms Gilsa Pacheco Monteiro has more than 18 years of experience in process safety in the oil and gas industry. She has worked in different activities such as risk analysis leadership, development of standards, performance indicators and safety training. She is Chemical engineer with a post-graduation in Occupational Safety. She also holds a master’s degree and a PhD in the Safety Analysis Area of the Nuclear Engineering Program of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In 2018, worked full time as a visiting PhD researcher at the School of Sociology of ANU (Australian National University), with the Emeritus Prof Andrew Hopkins,
She co-authored Chapter 8 (How decentralization undermines process safety some illuminating cases) of Hopkin's book "Organizing for Safety - How structure creates culture". She was also a member of the CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety) Subcommittee responsible for the development of the book "Essential Practices for Creating, Strengthening, and Sustaining Process Safety Culture".
