TBT notification issued by Korea on Oral Hygiene Products

Dear Members,
The Council has received information from M/s. APJ-SLG Law Offices, New Delhi regarding TBT notification (G/TBT/N/KOR/570) dated 10th April 2015 issued by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Republic of Korea. The regulation is with regards to oral hygiene products.
The HS Code for the products comes under HS code 3304.
Two external colorants, amaranth and new coccine, will be restricted from use in oral hygiene products.
India exports these products to Korea, hence, this approval requirement, if implemented, may impact the registration strategy and timeline for India’s exports of pharmaceuticals.
Relevant members are requested to send their comments to the Council, so that the same could be submitted to M/s. APJ-SLG Law Offices, New Delhi for further action.
