We are happy to inform you that CHEMEXCIL has drawn up a strategy for Focus Africa and accordingly, as an export promotion measure as also to boost our trade with the said Region, we are glad to organize an Indian Chemical Exhibition in Durban, South Africa followed by Buyer Seller Meets in Port Louis, Mauritius and Nairobi, Kenya on Dyes and Dye Intermediates, Basic Inorganic & Organic Chemicals, including Agrochemicals, Soaps, Detergents, Cosmetics, toiletries & EssentialOils, Castor Oil and its derivativesin co-ordination with the respective  Consulate/Embassies  there.

Regarding South Africa, India's trade with Africa increased by 10 fold from around USD 7 billion in FY2004 to about USD 70 billion in FY2013 which is highest amongst all the regions such as Europe, America, Asia and CIS & Baltics. The reason could be attributed to the increased importance of African countries in India's bilateral trade relations. With the increasing diversification of India's global trade towards emerging and developing countries, Africa has emerged as an important partner for India for trade and commerce during the recent years.South Africa is India's largest export market in Africa, accounting for about 19-20 percent in India's exports which included Dyes and Dye Intermediates, organic chemicals and Agrochemicals.

With regard to Mauritius, the country  has a liberal economic and trade policy.  Mauritius is  a member of WTO, as well as many other regional economic groups (COMESA, SADC, IOC).Since customs duties are comparatively  low, the island is open to international trade and does not have any trade barriers. Since the country has a positive trade balance, it imports among other items, Dyes and Dye Intermediates and chemicals from India.  Considering the current trend, it is hoped that the relationship between Mauritius and India will continue to grow in future.

Regarding Kenya, the country is  the regional trade and finance hub of East Africa. Its market-based economy is characterized by an open external trade system and heavy dependence on the agriculture sector.  In the past few years, this African country has already started  development programmes implemented by the Kenyan government. The country has now emerged as an attractive trade and investment destination for several Indian SMEs looking to expand their footprint in the African continent.
