Revised -To seek inputs on 110 Chemicals identified by Dept of Chemicals for making QCO Notified under BIS

Dear Members,
You may be aware that Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification scheme is basically voluntary in nature. However, for a number of products compliance to Indian Standards is made compulsory by the Central Government through issuance of QCOs.
It is made compulsory with respect to various considerations viz. public interest, protection of human, animal or plant health, safety of environment, prevention of unfair trade practices and national security.
The products under QCOs shall conform to corresponding Indian Standard(s) mentioned in the QCO and shall bear the Standard Mark under a Licence or Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from BIS.
After the date of commencement of the QCO, no person shall manufacture, import, distribute, sell, hire, lease, store or exhibit for sale any product(s) covered under the QCO without a Standard Mark except under a valid Licence or CoC from BIS.
In order to explain more about QCOs, the Guidance Document on Quality Control Orders (QCOs) of BIS is attached herewith.
Further, please note that we are in receipt of intimation from Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) informing that they are exploring the attached list of 110 chemicals for making the Quality Control Order (QCO) notified under BIS.
In view of the importance of the above, members are requested to go through the attached list of 110 chemicals and provide the inputs / comments to the Council on e-mail ids:- amrita@chemexcil.in ; with copy to dg@chemexcil.in; pw@chemexcil.in, rd.del@chemexcil.in latest by 29th December 2022.
