We are pleased to inform you that CHEMEXCIL in association with GPC & COSMED Group is organizing Webinar on “Cosmetic regulations in the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru)”. The Andean Community is a free trade area founded in 1969 to create a custom union and promote growth and development in member countries. The members of Andean Community are Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. To harmonize cosmetic regulation, Decision No 833 is approved. Decision No 833 regulates requirements and procedures to manufacture products in Andean Community or import them from other countries. It came into force on 27 May 2020.
The aims of the new legislation
The new ruling intends to introduce control and surveillance of cosmetics and personal care products sold in member countries throughout the region in an effort to ensure that they are both sanitary for humans and safe.
The new legislations also stipulates that the products to be regulated are specifically for topical use, which means that it does not cover any products designed for the treatment or diagnosis of diseases, or with the intention of being ingested, inhaled, injected or implanted on the body.
It also stipulates that the formulation of products should comply with the best organized international regulations on ingredients to outline what may or may not be incorporated according to stipulated functions and restrictions on use.
