Early Harvest of India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership-  Canada's Wishlist

Dear Members,

This is in continuation of our recent mailers regarding Early Harvest of India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations.

We have now  received communication from Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC)  whereby we understand  that both India and Canada are in discussion for concluding the CEPA in two phases; first phase, as an Early Harvest / interim agreement. In the second phase, the comprehensive agreement covering substantial tariff lines could be pursued.

With respect to possible Early harvest agreement, Canada has forwarded its wish list formally (copy attached herewith).

Chemexcil has been requested to examine the specific tariff lines of Canada’s wish list and indicate specifically (Yes/No/May be) whether the product can be considered for tariff concessions under the CEPA along with justification/comments ( with supporting data ).

Considering the importance of this exercise, members are requested to examine the enclosed list and provide comments (with  rationale)  to  the council  latest by 18th Sept 2021 on-   dg@chemexcil.in and pw@chemexcil.in for onward submission to DCPC.

Your timely responses will be appreciated.

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully
