Dear Members,

As you are aware that India has signed Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with MERCOSUR (comprising of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay) on January 25, 2004 which came into effect on 1st June 2009. India and MERCOSUR have agreed for tariff concessions ranging from 10% to 100% to the other side on 450 and 452 tariff lines respectively.

Both sides feel that trade potential are not harnessed to the optimum and expressed their commitment to widen and deepen this Agreement.

Recently, Brazil has taken over as the temporary President of MERCOSUR. And Brazil along with   other Members of the MERCOSUR has proposed a virtual meeting with India to deal with expansion and deepening of the PTA between the parties.

In this regard, members are requested to provide their inputs covering the areas of engagement, trade potential in the Chemicals handled by your company, tariff lines to be considered for MoP, NTBs and other issues to be taken up with MERCOSUR for discussion, to us latest by 23rd August, 2021 by 11.00am.

Your feedbacks on tariff lines to be considered for MoP, NTBs and other issues to be sent ASAP to  the council on-   dg@chemexcil.in & pw@chemexcil.in  for taking further with the Concerned department.
