All Members of the Counci
Dear Members,
We wish to inform you that council is in receipt of communication from Department of Commerce and Industry that, Brazil has reduced an import duty on the 6 chemical products to 0% or 2%.
The said decision was taken on 9th June 2021, the Executive Management Committee (Gecex), of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) of Brazil’s Ministry of Economy under the terms of the Mercosur Common Market Group.
The measure, named Gecex Resolution No. 197, was officially published in the Official Gazette, and will come into effect on 16th June 2021 (with exception of HS code 283311, which will come into effect on 7 November 2021).
It allows exemption from taxes on goods to ensure the fluid supply of goods in the economic bloc of Mercosur, containing products such as agricultural inputs, equipment for energy, chemical inputs, among others. In these cases, the products had import tariff reductions to 0% or 2%, for up to 365 days.
Enclosed herewith are the details of the Resolution along with the link to see the official measure.
We request member exporters to take advantage of this duty reduction to enhance chemical trade to Brazil.
Thanks and Regards
Deepak Gupta
