Measures to enhance India-United States (U.S.) bilateral trade in

merchandise

Dear Members,

We  have received communication from NAFTA Division, DOC regarding action taken on their suggested  Measures to enhance India-United States (U.S.) bilateral trade in merchandise.

As you are aware, in the last few months council has been sending mailers to the members with information provided by DOC/ DCPC along-with the identified Tariff lines where it’s felt that   India can benefit because of additional tariff levied by the US on Chinese goods/ tariff arbitrage.  However, inputs from the members  are still awaited.

We would like to re-iterate that NAFTA  Division, DOC has  done a desk analysis where India can benefit because of additional tariff levied by the US on Chinese goods and requested  industry to focus on the identified tariff lines and immediately explore the market opportunities in the U.S. for Indian exporters and also promote domestic production capabilities so that we could enhance export of these items to US.

The list of  India's High Potential Tariff Lines  identified by  NAFTA Division for export to United States (U.S.) in light of U.S. levy of tariff on Chinese imports is available in the enclosed file.

Since  EPC’s have been asked  to revert with action taken/ actionable  inputs, members are once again  requested to go through the enclosed list of  items and  provide your inputs on enhancing exports of any of  the  items so that the same could be submitted to the  NAFTA Division.

Members are requested to kindly send their inputs to   the council latest  by 21/12/2018 on e-mail id’s:- ed@chemexcil.gov.in,   deepak.gupta@chemexcil.gov.in & rodelhi@chemexcil.gov.in .

Your timely replies will be appreciated and also  enable us submit comments to DOC as requested.

Thanking you,

Yours Faithfully,

(S. G. Bharadi)
