REVISED CIRCULAR

ALL MEMBER EXPORTERS OF THE COUNCIL

‘Indian Chemicals and Cosmetics Exhibition”, Johannesburg,

South Africa on 11th & 12 th FEBRUARY 2016

followed by   BSM  in Nairobi- Kenya on  16 th February, 2016

Dear Member Exporters,

.

The Indian Chemical Exhibition held on 26 th and 27 th July, 2012 in Johannesburg, South Africa was a great success. Taking into consideration the good response, once again Chemexcil has planned to organize an “Indian Chemicals and Cosmetics Exhibition” on 11-12 th February, 2016 followed by Buyers Sellers Meet on 16 th February, 2016 in Nairobi- Kenya.

Chemical Industry including Agrochemicals Industry

South Africa's chemical industry is of substantial economic significance to the country, contributing around 5% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and approximately 25% of its manufacturing sales. The industry is the largest of its kind in Africa. It is highly complex and widely diversified, with end products often being composed of a number of chemicals which have been combined in some way to provide the required properties and characteristics.

Essential Oils  flavours and Fragrance/Cosmetics/Soaps and Toiletries Industry

The South African cosmetics industry is competitive and sophisticated. Currently, the size of the industry is estimated at approximately $1.9 billion (R15 billion) with predictions that it will grow by ten percent in the coming year. As a consequence of the end of Apartheid and the lifting of sanctions, a considerable number of multinationals came into the South African market for the first time in the last decade, introducing new brands and increasing competition in the local market. On the high end of the consumer market, there is a trend towards premium products, especially those with anti-aging properties. At the same time, with the growth of the middle class and increased spending power by previously disadvantaged socio-economic groups, there is a continued demand for affordable but reliable quality ethnic skin care and hair products. It is also a growing market for Essential Oils, Flavours and Fragrances.
