Stakeholder consultations on India-UAE CEPA negotiations on Chemicals and
Petrochemicals tariff lines

Dear Members,
We have received communication from FT WANA Division, Department of Commerce, Government of India informing us that the Department of Commerce is conducting stakeholder consultations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and UAE.
In this connection, a meeting through virtual mode, under the chairmanship of Joint Secretary (WANA), Department of Commerce is scheduled to be held on 12th October, 2021 at 1500 Hrs to discuss these Chemicals and Petrochemicals Tariff lines.
In this context, specific inputs on the treatment (tariff elimination, tariff reduction, TRQ, sensitive etc) may be provided for tariff lines of India on Chemicals and Petrochemicals (list attached). The detailed justification in case you have any sensitivity towards these lines vis- a- vis UAE, may also be furnished.
In this connection, you may also keep in mind the existing treatment in India’s FTAs on these lines. The offensive export interest on any of the UAE lines may also be intimated .
