To seek an input on review of India-Japan CEPA

Greetings from Chemexcil !
Chemexcil is in receipt of communication from The Department of Commerce informing that DOC is actively engaged in the review of the India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The review primarily focuses on the Rules of Origin (RoO) and Product Specific Rules (PSRs) within the India-Japan CEPA.
The main aim of this review is to address the trade imbalances and enhance the competitiveness of our exports between India and Japan. And on India’s request, review of India- Japan CEPA is being undertaken.
Japan has proposed a review of PSR’s for attached 4-products, indicating a focused approach to address specific concerns. The 4- products listed under Chemexcil purview are attached herewith.
Concerned members are requested to propose their inputs on the ROO text as well as the existing PSR, including the General Rule concerning products of your interest for export to Japan latest by 20th November 2023. You may also suggest changes in the PSR to be considered for inclusion.
Given importance to the review, any delay will be considered as NO OBJECTION with the existing ROO provisions under the India – Japan CEPA.
Members are requested to share their reply on pw@chemexcil.in with copy to dg@chemexcil.in on or before 20th November 2023 for onward communication.
