To seek comments on ban in EU on the pesticide-active substance "S-Metolachlor”

Dear Member,
The European Union (EU) has issued a notification No. G/TBT/N/EU/982, on 24 May 2023, which pertains to the ban on the pesticide-active substance known as "S-Metolachlor”.
The EU has released a journal that outlines the clinical grounds for prohibiting this herbicide.
Please find attached a copy of the journal and the TBT Notification for your perusal.
The basis for the ban is primarily due to its presence in groundwater exceeding the parametric drinking water limit of 0.1 μg/L. Additionally, it has been identified as posing a high risk to earthworm-eating mammals.
In view of the above, it is requested to provide your comments on whether the clinical grounds provided are sufficient to warrant the ban on this product.
