European Union’s upcoming regulation-Eco-design for Sustainable

Products Regulations (ESPR) which covers Chemicals

 

Dear Sir/Madam

We wish to bring to your kind notice about an intimation received from Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals on EUs upcoming ESPR regulation Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulations which will be applicable to Chemicals also.

Copies of the same are enclosed for your kind perusal and study.

In short,  

  1. This is new regulation aim to protect environment and human health.

 

  1. Companies to share in depth technical information about their products to competent authorities in EU.

  1. Companies to create a Digital Passport for Products (DPP) to track product life cycle in accordance with proposed act.

 

  1. The adoption and entry into force of the ESPR is currently expected in the first half of 2024.

  1. Deadlines and transition periods are expected to be specified in the acts post adoption of the ESPR.

 

  1. The industry impact will largely depend on the final version of the ESPR and its implementation by the European Commission.

  1. Companies exporting their products in the EU are advised to start assessing the impact of ESPR for their products, monitor the ESPR adoption process and start getting prepared for the upcoming regulation.

 

If any member would like to submit their inputs then they can share the same on amrita@chemexcil.in; pw@chemexcil.in with copy to dg@chemexcil.in to examine and take it forward with concerned department.

CHEMEXCIL will shortly organize capacity building programs on this important topic to make Chemical Industry aware about this new regulation.
