Update On EUs Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
|
Dear Members,
We are in receipt of communication from the Department on compliance check points for exporters to the EU under the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is a new European Union law aim to reduce the EU's impact on global deforestation and forest degradation.
It requires companies placing commodities on the EU market or exporting them from the EU to prove that the products do not originate from recently deforested land or have contributed to forest degradation.
At present this regulation is applicable to a wide range of agro commodities such as palm oil, beef, soy, cocoa, coffee, rubber, and timber.
While chemicals are not directly covered, Indian exporters may be indirectly exposed if their products are used in agricultural or industrial processes that contribute to deforestation.
For more details exporters are suggested to go through the link below and take appropriate action if their products are covered under this regulation.
