Temporary Customs Duty Exemption on Key Chemical Imports

Dear Members,
Greetings from CHEMEXCIL.
This is to inform that the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has issued Notification No. 12/2026-Customs dated 1st April 2026, granting nil basic customs duty on import of specified chemical products.
Highlights:

A wide range of chemicals and petrochemical products including Methanol, Acetic Acid, Phenol, PVC, Polypropylene, ABS, Epoxy Resins, Polyurethanes, etc. are covered.

The exemption reduces the basic customs duty to Nil on these specified items.
The notification is valid from 2nd April 2026 to 30th June 2026 (inclusive).
Additionally, vide Notification No. 13/2026-Customs provides similar exemption from Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) on Ammonium Nitrate for the same period.
