Introduction of Automated Facility for Grant of Export Obligation (EO) Extension through PRC/EPCG Committee – Ease of Doing Business

Dear Member,

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has introduced an automated facility for grant of Export Obligation (EO) extension in respect of Advance Authorisation (AA) and EPCG Authorisation cases considered by the PRC/EPCG Committee vide Trade Notice 21/2026-27 dated 21.08.2026.

The initiative is aimed at furthering digitalisation, process simplification and reduction of manual intervention, thereby facilitating the trade community and enhancing Ease of Doing Business.

The automated facility is applicable to cases relating to:

  • Advance Authorisation (AA); and
  • EPCG Authorisation

where the request for Export Obligation extension is required to be considered by the PRC/EPCG Committee.

When an exporter applies for EO extension through the PRC/EPCG Committee and the Committee decides to grant the extension, the approved EO extension will be processed directly through the DGFT system. Accordingly, the exporter will not be required to file a separate EO extension application with the concerned Regional Authority after the PRC/EPCG Committee has approved the extension.

The process under the new automated facility will operate as follows:

Step 1 – The exporter shall apply for consideration of the EO extension request before the PRC/EPCG Committee in respect of the concerned Advance Authorisation/EPCG Authorisation.

Step 2 – The PRC/EPCG Committee will consider the request and take a decision on the grant of EO extension. Where the Committee approves the extension, the approved EO extension will be processed through the system.

Step 3 –A letter will be issued through the system for payment of the prescribed EO Extension fee on the PRC/EPCG Committee file.

Step 4 – The exporter shall pay the requisite fee through the DGFT portal and submit the response on the portal.

Step 5 –Upon submission of the response and successful payment of the prescribed fee:

  • the EO extension file will be automatically created;
  • the file will be approved in the system; and
  • the corresponding EO Extension Letter will be generated.

A significant benefit of the new facility is that once the PRC/EPCG Committee has approved the EO extension, the exporter is no longer required to submit a separate EO extension application before the concerned Regional Authority which will eliminate duplication in the application process.

The revised EO expiry date will also be reflected in the system records of the concerned Authorisation. The revised information will also be transmitted to ICEGATE, thereby ensuring that the updated EO validity is reflected in the relevant system records.

A detailed Help Manual for the above functionality is available on the DGFT portal for the guidance of exporters and other stakeholders. For assistance, exporters may contact the DGFT Helpdesk through the toll-free number or raise a service ticket through the DGFT website under: Services - DGFT Helpdesk Service

Members are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions through email at  dgftedi@nic.in with a copy to ed@chemexcil.in, amrita@chemexcil.in and ad.del@chemexcil.in .

This is for the kind information of all members.
