Dear Member,
With sustainability and responsible sourcing becoming increasingly important drivers of global trade, regulatory frameworks across major markets are evolving to strengthen supply chain transparency, environmental accountability, and responsible business practices. In this evolving regulatory landscape, European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) introduces new mandatory due diligence requirements for companies placing certain commodities and products on the EU market or exporting them from the EU.
The regulation aims to ensure that supply chains are free from deforestation and forest degradation while increasing transparency and traceability across global value chains
The EUDR will become applicable from 30th December 2026 for medium and large operators/traders, including downstream users and manufacturers. Businesses covered under the Regulation will be required to establish appropriate due diligence systems, undertake risk assessments, maintain supply chain traceability, collect relevant information including geolocation data, and comply with documentation and reporting obligations.
With respect to products falling under the purview of CHEMEXCIL, the EUDR has implications for Palm Oil and its derivatives, which are widely used across sectors such as cosmetics, personal care products, food ingredients, oleochemicals, biofuels, and industrial applications.
