Dear Members,


You may be aware, Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large class of thousands of synthetic chemicals that are used throughout society. However, they are increasingly detected as environmental pollutants and some are linked to negative effects on human health.


They all contain carbon-fluorine bonds, which are one of the strongest chemical bonds in organic chemistry. This means that they resist degradation when used and also in the environment. Most PFAS are also easily transported in the environment covering long distances away from the source of their release. If releases continue, they will continue to accumulate in the environment, drinking water and food.


Therefore, PFAS are the chemicals of concern and globally the regulations are being mooted to phase out these chemicals in products. In India, the awareness on the PFAS seem to be limited and currently no regulations are in place for any of the products.


The Indian industries need to be prepared for the challenges of PFAS as their products may face scrutiny in the global market, particularly EU, JAPAN and the USA.


Hence, in order to give a perspective on the regulatory development of PFAS globally and challenges for the Indian Industries, CHEMEXCIL in association with Global Product Compliance (GPC) is organising a webinar for its members on the topic “Global Regulatory Developments on PFA: Challenge for Indian Industries Ahead :.
