Withdrawal of quality control orders (QCOs) for Acetic acid, Methanol, and Aniline by Department to ease compliance burdens for domestic manufacturers.

Dear Members,
This has reference to our earlier circular no EPC:PW:LIC:QCO:2024-25: 79 dated 7th August 2024 on Gazette Notification for extension of enforcement date of QCOs of 3 Chemicals
viz. (i) Acetic Acid (ii) Methanol (iii) Aniline. As per the same the deadline for the extension for the QCO for (i) Acetic Acid (ii) Methanol (iii) Aniline till 3rd August, 2025 (Ref. https://chemexcil.in/circulars/imp---gazette-notification-for-extension-of-enforcement-date-of-qcos-of-3-chemicals--viz.--i--acetic-acid--ii--methanol--iii--aniline/6232/7cee70d65058e4315a24691cff1fe909.html)
Since these chemicals are critical inputs for various sectors such as, dyes and intermediates pharmaceuticals, textiles, paints, adhesives, and agrochemicals, etc. India sources significant quantities of acetic acid and aniline from China and the US, while methanol is primarily imported from Gulf countries.
In view of above department has withdrawn the QCOs that mandates compliance for both domestic and imported goods vide Gazette notification no. CG-DL-E-23072025-264914 dated 23rd July 2025.
Now these chemicals will no longer require compliance with compulsory BIS standards. The detailed notification is enclosed for your reference.
