Dear Sir/Madam,
Greetings from CHEMEXCIL!
We are delighted to inform that CHEMEXCIL has collaborated with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) and IIFT for the Workshop on FTA Fundamentals: Equipping MSMEs for Internationalization” on 12th November 2024 from 0930 – 1530 hrs at Fairfield by Marriott Vadodara.
Background of the workshop: The MSMEs sector is integral to the growth of the Indian economy. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) negotiated by India offer tariff concessions, thereby enhancing export opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). India’s active participation and increased visibility in international trade have been significantly bolstered by targeted domestic policies and deeper engagement with trading partners through FTAs.
FTAs offer an exclusive path for Indian industry to form stronger trade relationships with their trading partners with wider liberalization and collaboration on many areas. The existing FTAs of India such as ASEAN, Japan, Korea, Mauritius, UAE and Australia and others currently under negotiations with UK, and EU offers many potential areas for trade expansion for Indian industry. The new age FTAs are more comprehensive and include opportunities for trade in goods, trade in services, government procurement and digital trade, etc.
Objective: The objective of this workshop is to create awareness about the key concepts around the trade domain in FTAs, opportunities and role it plays in the internationalization of MSMEs. The workshop will also discuss the success stories of Indian industries with their FTA partners and identify challenges faced during their implementation. This will help us in developing a roadmap for enhancing larger industry participation including MSMEs in international trade leading to better decision making and utilization of such agreements.
This capacity building session will facilitate:
-
-
-
Better understanding of the fundamentals of FTAs like Tariffs, non-tariff barriers, Rules of origin, trade facilitations, etc and its significance for MSMEs.
-
Equip for easy access to FTA-related documents, tools and techniques, tariff analysis, compliance with international standards, etc.
-
Better utilization of the existing FTAs and reap the benefits from preferential liberalization.
-
Advice on the importance of industry participation in the stakeholder consultations to provide better input and suggestions to the policy makers.
Considering the importance of this workshop, Member-exporters are requested to participate in it and benefit from the same. Please confirm your attendance latest by November 8, 2024.
