Greetings for the day!
We are in receipt of a communication from the Department of Commerce, DGFT, regarding the World Bank’s new flagship report, B-READY, which benchmarks the business environment and investment climate across various economies. This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the business environment for the private sector development, focusing on regulatory quality, public services, and their efficiency.
The B-READY project is structured around three assessment pillars:
·         Pillar I (Regulatory Framework): Rules and regulations that firms must follow as they open, operate and close a business
·         Pillar-II (Public Services): Government-provided facilities for compliance with regulations + business-enabling public institutions and infrastructure
·         Pillar-III (Efficiency): Efficiency with which regulatory framework and public services are combined in Practice
The Department is currently evaluating the indicators and questions related to the "International Trade" topic within the B-READY framework. Data for Pillar III are collected through firm-level surveys conducted by the World Bank.
