EPC/LIC/CIS  13th February   2017

To All Members of the Council

Meeting of the Joint Secretary,  Department of Commerce on

28/02/2017 in Mumbai  with companies trading with CIS countries

Dear Members,

We would like to inform you  that the Department of Commerce (DoC) is  working on negotiations to  operationalize INSTC  (International North-South Transport Corridor) route along-with Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia.

This route has two modes. First is from Mumbai to Bandar abbas by sea then to bandar azali - baku -  moscow by rail/road. Second mode is from bandar azali to amirabad by rail/route and then from amirabad to astrakhan by sea through caspian sea and from there towards Moscow. The proposed INSTC route shall be 40% shorter and cheaper as compare with the existing route.

The DoC has  to resolve some issues like tariff of rail/road/ship,  banking and insurance matters so that exporters do not face any problem related to their cargo.

However,  to understand the present movement of goods which is being sent through Mediterranean sea and other related matters with the  CIS countries, it has been decided by the Department of Commerce to hold a meeting in Mumbai on 28.02.2017 under the Chairmanship of Shri Sunil Kumar, IAS, Joint Secretary in the DoC with the leading export houses who are dealing in the  import of Organic and Inorganic chemicals, processed minerals, vegetable oils, Fertilizers, spices and the export of Textile, Tea, Rice, Pharmaceuticals, buffalo Meat etc.

Interested member-exporters  from chemical sector who are trading with CIS area are requested to revert with confirmation  and availability for meeting in  Mumbai on 28.02.2017. The replies be sent on e-mail ids -  Deepak.gupta@chemexcil.gov.in and  balani.lic@chemexcil.gov.in

Your early  conformation (by  14th Feb 2017),  will enable us forward the information to the  Ministry.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

(S.G. BHARADI)
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
